🌍 Web3 grants roundup, givepact reacts to FTX, other POSITIVE things
gm gm,
If you read literally any other world news, you don’t need us to tell you that' it’s been A WEEK — FTX crash, layoffs all across, COP27, USDT drops 3% below $1 peg. Is the world ending? We’re here with your weekly dose of all the ways Web3 is being used *for good* to reassure you that it is NOT.
The call to imagine a new way of living in the world is greater than ever, and those of us who are building for impact, like the founders of givepact, are rising to the occassion. To help you do the same, we’ve included an (amazing!) comprehensive list of Web3 grants to fund your big idea. Plus: updates from Filecoin, Common Stack (you don’t want to miss this one!), Flowcarbon, The Climate Collective, and more.
Thanks for being a part of our community.
WAGMI (we are going to make an impact)

🌊Givepact Team Bridges the Gap Between Web3 and Social Impact
The nonprofit industry isn’t usually the first to adopt new technologies. Alicia Maule and Steven Aguiar know this firsthand from their extensive history working with nonprofits and digital media. Their mission, when it comes to Web3, is to flip that script. They don’t just want to make sure nonprofits don’t miss out — they want nonprofits to be among the first to reap the benefits.
To make this happen, the two founders — who met as DJs and Entrepreneurs at Brown University — are building givepact, a free crypto fundraising platform for nonprofits that funds a community DAO for social impact.
Alicia and Steven talked to Web3forGood about what makes givepact unique, their own Web 3 journeys, why they pivoted from consulting to building a product, and what their vision is for the future.
While we were working with the givepact team on this piece, the breaking news about FTX’s liquidity crunch swept the economic world. You’ll want to hear their reaction to that.

🔥 Resource: A List of Web3 Grants and More
Web3 is an ecosystem defined by grants - grants to build on specific chains, to help marginalized communities within the ecosystem, to increase access...
Gitcoin has played a huge role in that - and they are decentralizing! Gitcoin has decided that they do not want to be the only community that can decide on what counts as a public good - so they have launched a grants protocol (beta) where any local community (digital or physical) can have a set of tools to collectively curate their own shared needs.
With no Gitcoin grants round this quarter, here is a list of Web3 Funding grants for those still looking for funding.
And here’s an insight into one that is particularly interesting: Clr.fund.
Clr.fund’s goal is to enable funds to be allocated towards public goods that benefit the Ethereum Network without relying on centralized entities and in a way that reflects the preferences of the Ethereum Community.
How is Clr.fund unique?
Decentralized with a major pieces of clr.fund’s infrastructure built on Ethereum
Scalability: Clr.fund uses “sidechain” supplementary networks to get the benefits of Etheruem but with faster, cheaper transactions
Collusion Resistance: Clr.fund prevents bribery and other kinds of manipulation through zero knowledge proofs
Sybil-resistance: Clr.fund mitigates this issue through BrightID
Developed in a manner that anyone can spin up and run their own instance to create a public goods grants program for their community.
Details about how the Clr.fund works can be found here.
