What is a Sybil Attack?
A Sybil attack is an attack on a computer network where an individual gets around the reputation and account system rules by creating many alternative identities and using them to gain a disproportionately large influence. A simple example: One individual creating multiple social media accounts.
One of the most common Sybil attack examples are the fake followers and the bots on Twitter. In Web3, the Sybil attack is commonly applied to mining, forging identities, or other activities where a malicious actor tries to earn more money or to forge the data without being detected.
