Mercy Corps Venturesโ Crypto For Good Fund IV is now live, opening up new pathways for projects dedicated to building positive impact through Web3 ๐. If youโre operating in Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Pacific Islands, or Western Balkans and building solutions for climate action or financial resilience in emerging markets, nowโs the time to apply ๐. This round offers equity-free grants of up to $100,000, plus in-kind support from MCVโs team of impact and crypto experts ๐ฐ๐ฐ.ย
Crypto prices have soared this week ๐, in response to anticipation of a favorable regulatory policy environment. The Boys Club podcast that came out last Friday with Jake Chervinsky, Chief Legal Officer at Variant, did a great job at breaking down the implications in a neutral way.ย
Speaking of podcasts, Tereza and Mayaโs conversation with Azeem Khan for the ReFi podcast offered a balanced, candid take on bridging the gap between ReFi ideology and traditional corporate and impact spaces ๐ค.
We need values-focused individuals working in Web3 now just as much as ever. This technology can make -- and already is making -- a difference in the lives of everyday people.

๐TLDR: Decentralized Storage
New to Web3? Welcome! TLDR is where we offer a simplified explanation of a term used often in this newsletter or a big topic in the news this week. If there's anything you're curious about, reply and let us know.
What is decentralized storage: Decentralized storage on the blockchain is a way of storing data without relying on a single, central company or server. In traditional storage systems (like Google Drive or Dropbox), your data is kept on servers owned and controlled by one company. Decentralized storage, however, spreads your data across multiple computers, often called "nodes," around the world. Some popular examples include IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) and Filecoin.
When you upload a file to a decentralized storage network, the file is broken up into small pieces and encrypted (secured by turning it into unreadable code). These pieces are then distributed to different nodes. Each piece has a unique address, allowing you to retrieve the data by connecting all the parts when you need it. Only you (or people you allow) can reassemble the file because of encryption.
Blockchain technology helps keep track of where each piece is stored and who has access to it, adding a layer of security. Since no single person or company has control over all of your data, itโs more resistant to hacking, censorship, or loss from a single failure.
Why does it matter: Decentralized storage aims to create a more secure, private, and user-controlled internet. The idea is to provide more control to users and to make the internet less dependent on big corporations.
TLDR: Decentralized storage on the blockchain securely splits and stores data across multiple computers worldwide, giving users control over their data without relying on a single company or server.
