Speaking of celebrations, a couple of weeks ago, we quietly realized it was our third birthday… three whole years of publishing Web3forGood. Wow! Thanks for being here, friends 💛.

🪙 Stablecoins
- TBF, when are we not thinking about stablecoins? They’re everywhere; a new report documents 30 million active stablecoin wallets. That’s over a 50% increase from the same time last year (Cointelegraph). So it makes sense that US lawmakers are taking them seriously (Cointelegraph). We’d be remiss to not mention there is clearly money to be made in this space, and investors are noticing too; see: Stable Sea (Blockworks). For now, “Ethereum continues to be the blockchain of choice for stablecoin activity, hosting $35 billion in USDC and $67 billion in USDT” (The Block).
😬 That Solana Ad
- We really don’t want to talk about it or give it any more attention, but you should know it exists. “The now-deleted ad was posted Monday a few minutes before noon in New York and had garnered over 1.4 million views by dusk. The post featured patriotic themes and apparent political messaging, in particular against gender diversity” (Decrypt). At least the CEO is ashamed and seems to have actually apologized (Cointelegraph, @aeyakovenko). And at least we can take comfort in the fact that there was industry-wide backlash (CryptoSlate). Still, it raises the question, in this day and age, does backlash even matter if it gets you over a million views? Ugh. [We don’t recommend wasting your time, but if you really want to see it, someone of course uploaded the ad on Zora, and you can watch it here.]
🌴 Crypto the Game Season 3 Finale
- It happened on Wednesday. Congrats to @tednotlasso on the big win (@DylanAbruscato)! ICYMI: Crypto the Game is an onchain Survivor-like reality game / show and cultural phenomenon (@BoysClubWorld). In an industry with many cringe-worthy moments, it's a refreshing, wholesome reminded of the human connection made possible by onchain tech. This was our third year participating - and as always the elimination countdown is as stressful as ever!
📈 Prediction Markets
- As March Madness kicks off, prediction markets, which we covered extensively during the US election season last fall, are back in the spotlight with a Robinhood<>Kalshi partnership (Web3forGood, @APompliano). The new features allows Robinhood customers to trade contracts on the outcomes of both men's and women's NCAA basketball tournament games. (Bettors Insider). “Kalshi, Robinhood’s partner for event contracts, is already registered to list a wide range of prediction markets, including political outcomes, economic indicators, and entertainment events. “We believe in the power of prediction markets and think they play an important role at the intersection of news, economics, politics, sports, and culture,” said JB Mackenzie, Robinhood’s vice president and general manager of futures and international” (CoinMarketCap). In conclusion, prediction markets: they’re not going anywhere.
🔥 Update: Is it ethical to resurrect burned tokens?
- Last week, we covered Crypto.com's controversial proposal to remint burned token (Web3forGood). Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, the company went against its community’s wishes and pushed the proposal through at the last minute (Unchained). People aren’t happy, and an alarming precedent has been set. TBD what happens next.
