<72 hours to save the rainforest, hyperstructures, a DAO contributor shares all
GM Web3ForGood Community. This week we bring you news of an urgent, developing story -- earlier this week, it was announced that, despite pleas from activists, the Democratic Republic of Congo is moving forward with its plans to auction off blocks of its rainforest to oil and gas companies for drilling. The auction began yesterday (July 28) and will continue today (July 29), and with just 72 hours to make a difference, the global #ReFi community has sprung into action.
RedemptionDAO is a ConstitutionDAO style movement that was formed this week to save the planet. As we write this, the goal is to drive public awareness in order to create pressure to open up the auction to those outside of oil and gas. Should this happen, RedemptionDAO plans to outbid oil companies in these auctions to protect as much land as they can.
From the RedemptionDAO Discord: “ConstitutionDAO proved to the world how effective viral crowdfunding for communally owned property could be by raising $47 million for the US Constitution. Let's leverage that same power to save the planet, starting with Congo's rainforests. Together we can prove to the world how powerful decentralized communities can be when united around a common cause.”

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) are a new way of organizing people. DAOs are defined as internet native communities that come together around a common purpose. They are distributed teams with democratic governance and autonomous workflows powered by smart contracts on the blockchain.
There is a lot of talk around what DAOs are and how they function. Everyone has a different view. To get to the truth of the matter on DAOs I interviewed Saf a multi- DAO contributor. Saf is a full-time contributor at Gitcoin DAO and a volunteer with Dream DAO. He previously held roles at Bankless and Protein DAO.
