Dominating the Web3 news this week:
1. The SEC came out swinging against some of crypto’s biggest players with some popular tokens caught in the crossfires and now labeled as securities (multiple links below in Latest News). Confusingly, Coinbase, which became a public company in 2021 with approval from the SEC, has, again and again, asked for clear regulation only to be met with ambiguity. What’s going on? What happens next?
2. Apple’s revelation of the Vision Pro AR headset has the tech world buzzing. Is life in the Metaverse coming sooner than we think? Maybe not with a $3499 price point… Still, it’s hard not to see this as a glimpse of things to come, similar to the OG iPhone reveal. Will history look back on the 2023 WWDC like the 2007 event? Time will tell. Interestingly, Apple is currently staying away from traditional Web3 lingo, instead seeming to lean more into an enterprise-first approach for the first iteration of this potentially revolutionary new product.
