gm gm,
14 years ago this week, Satoshi Nakamoto published the Bitcoin white paper. Look how far weโve come since then!
This week, we are excited to share our inspiring conversation with Stephen Etugbo, a community moderator at GoodDollar, who also organized the Blockchain and Social Impact Summit that happened last weekend in Nigeria. Stephen is a student, builder, philanthropist, and emerging leader in Web3 โ he spoke with us about his Web3 journey, his philosophy on community management, his love of learning, and so much more.
Hereโs another thing that has been on our mind - when it comes to building confidence in Web3, stablecoins have played a big role. There was the Terra collapse but USDC definitely still holds power with over 90% of stablecoins dominated by USD. While we aim to move towards a decentralized and global economy - this is still pushing โUS dollar hegemonyย onto the blockchainโ. This notion is covered well in this Twitter thread by Tricia Wang of CRADL (Crypto Research and Design Lab).
Plus: Gitcoin grants going away? Not quite, but theyโre evolving! And Gitcoin is looking for writers. Have you always dreamed of working as a Postcapitalist Economic Systems Architect? Youโre in luck. All this plus more opportunities, news, and a lot to add to your weekend reading (and listening) list.
WAGMI (we are going to make an impact)

๐Blockchain Connects the World: A Conversation with Stephen Etugbo, Community Moderator at GoodDollar
Ask Stephen Etugbo about how he came to find himself working at the forefront of a global tech movement, and he doesnโt hesitate to explain. He loves to learn โ and heโs good at it. And he loves people. The one thing he is too humble to explicitly note, but is clear throughout his story, is that he has an insatiable drive to be the best he can be and to improve the lives of all in his community in the process.
A few years ago, while studying structural engineering at the University of Benin, Nigeria and teaching himself design skills in his spare time, Stephen first learned about Web3. True to his nature, he jumped all in, learning as much as he could and talking to anyone who would listen. Today, he is an emerging leader in the global Web3 movement, working as a Community Moderator for GoodDollar in Nigeria, hosting events like the Blockchain and Social Impact Summit, and educating his local community and beyond.
Stephen spoke to Web3ForGood about his personal journey into Web3, hiw work with GoodDollar, his philosophy about giving back, the power of community, and why he believes Web3 tech will change lives all over the world for the better.
