Using Web3 for Pakistan Flood Relief

Happy new year to the Web3forGood community!
This week, we bring you the story of Save Pakistan, an example of an organization using Web3 to truly make a difference in the lives of those affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan that displaced over 50 million people.
Such a project is especially interesting -- the funds raised are tied to a specific, on-the-ground entity that is raising funds for a global calamity, but in a country where crypto regulations are unfavorable and the government is largely criticial of cryptocurrencies, AND without the global traction that led to millions donated to other instances such as UkraineDAO.
Nonetheless, the impact of the floods on Pakistan is heartbreaking, particularly given that they hit a country that is already on the brink of default and dealing with political instability, hence, we applaud the efforts of organizations such as Save Pakistan that are aiming to make a difference.

🌊 Using Web3 to Deliver Flood Relief to Pakistan
When floods hit Pakistan in mid-June, it was a complete catastrophe — ⅓ of the country was also underwater, they destroyed 2.28M+ homes and displaced 50 million people. WHO has declared a health emergency in Sindh, one of the most heavily destroyed areas due to floods. Over thousands of respiratory infections, diarrhoea, malaria, dengue, skin diseases, etc., cases have been reported. Over 650,000 pregnant women in flood-affected areas require immediate health care services, including 73,000 women who are due to give birth in the coming months. The post-flood situation is worsening due to the outbreak of waterborne diseases, health crises, famine, malnutrition in children, and much more. Immediately, multiple traditional fundraising avenues were set up by different NGOs in Pakistan.
For Bilal Bin Saqib, it was heart-wrenching to see his homeland drowning. Owing to the urgency of the issue, he wanted to leave no stone unturned to help the victims of the horrific floods, and decided to leverage his Web3 knowledge and reached out to Web3 professionals to set up a crypto fundraising platform for the flood victims, ensuring all is done to provide relief to the flood affectees.
