gm gm,
Itβs been an interesting week for the market overall, but we still have lots of good news to share.
Reminder: GG21 is live till August 21!! We particularly want to flag that applications for the Regen Coordi-Nation β a pioneering collaboration between GreenPill Network, ReFi DAO, and Celo Public Goods aimed at fostering a global movement of regenerative communities leveraging Web3 technology to address local needs and create real-world impact β are now live.
This GG21 Genesis Round, which offers $50K in matching funds, is open to applications from nominated ReFi DAO Local Nodes, GreenPill Local Chapters, and Celo Regional DAOs, as well as a select few additional aligned projects from each network.Β
Another exciting opportunity on our radar? Funding the Commons Residency in Thailand, a unique opportunity for 30-40 builders to gather in Thailand to advance the public goods ecosystem. Read more about it, below.

π¦ Community Project Spotlight: Funding the Commons Residency in Thailand
This spotlight was written by Tereza at Funding the Commons. Want to highlight a project that you or someone you know is working on in Web3ForGood? Reply here or send us a DM on X @w3b3forgood.
Funding the Commons is offering a unique opportunity for 30-40 builders to gather in Thailand to advance the public goods ecosystem. The residency seeks innovators, ideally with a track record in building open-source software, to explore new methods and technologies for funding the commons. Participants will have the chance to collaborate and contribute to shaping the future of public goods.
The residency explores various themes related to public goods funding. Participants will have the opportunity to investigate how to measure effectiveness and develop solutions for distributing, allocating, and managing resources. The program also highlights climate solutions and their impact, with a particular interest in projects that support displaced populations.
For example, past resident Tomislav developed Muqa during the Berlin residency and later received an Ethereum Next Billion Fellowship, initially supported by Funding the Commons.

This one-month experiment highlights the importance of real-world spaces for innovation. By building a vibrant community, the residency fosters collaboration, encourages feedback, and provides mentorship. The immersive environment allows for rapid production and creativity that can exceed whatβs possible when working alone and remotely.

πTLDR: Supermodularity
New to Web3? Welcome! TLDR is where we offer a simplifed explanation of a term used often in this newsletter. If there's anything you're curious about, reply and let us know.
Imagine you're playing a strategy game where your choices work together to create a better outcome. Thatβs the idea behind **supermodularity**. In a supermodular system, the value of one choice increases when combined with complementary choices. The more aligned your decisions are, the more benefits you reap.
Think of it like a recipe: having all the right ingredients that complement each other creates a better dish. In business, supermodularity means different strategies or investments are more valuable when they reinforce each other.
Now, letβs connect this to Web3. In Web3, where systems are decentralized, supermodularity is key. Components like smart contracts, DeFi protocols, and DAOs are valuable on their own, but when combined, they create even more value. For example, integrating a DeFi protocol with a DAO enhances decision-making and resource allocation.
Supermodularity in Web3 allows projects to interoperate, creating new opportunities and strengthening the ecosystem.
TLDR: Supermodularity means that combining complementary choices creates more value. In Web3, it allows decentralized components to work together, enhancing the overall ecosystem and driving innovation.
