🌐 Ethereum introduces Protocol: Ethereum is entering a pivotal moment with zkEVMs and L2s maturing, making it possible to scale while staying secure and censorship-resistant. In response, the EF’s Protocol R&D team is reorganizing around three strategic goals: scaling L1, scaling blobs, and improving UX—with new leadership and structures to drive execution. This marks a new chapter for “Protocol,” now a leaner, more focused group seeking collaborators to help deliver Ethereum’s values at global scale.
🍅 Blockchain and food systems: Food fraud drains up to $50B annually from the global food industry, exploiting opaque supply chains and causing major economic and health risks. While blockchain offers a powerful solution—through transparency, immutability, and traceability—real-world adoption is hampered by integration costs, data integrity concerns, and regulatory hurdles. A pragmatic, collaborative approach combining blockchain with IoT, AI, and governance standards is emerging as the most viable path forward to rebuild trust and secure global food systems.
