Et tu, Senator Warren? The influential Democratic US senator from MA has been a leading voice in crypto-skepticism, but this week she came out swinging extra hard, promising to build an anti-crypto army as part of her re-election campaign. An anti-crypto army? The progressive ReFi community is… baffled. Yes, there are bad actors and not-great use-cases for crypto, but what about all the ways these tools could be used to achieve progressive goals, like creating a more equitable financial system? Is waging war on an entire technology really the best answer? Why crypto and not AI?

Crypto-skepticism is important; open discussion pushes builders to ask important questions, and when more voices are heard, it leads to better outcomes overall. But skepticism is different than shutting down all discussion. The disappointment so many progressives in ReFi are feeling makes sense.

Politics aside, builders are building 🔥. Every day, there is more news about how Web3 tech is being used to fight climate change, bank the unbanked, support artists, and more. So to all the builders, we say: Keep building! People might not get it yet, but…
