gm gm,
Congratulations to Mento Labs on the $10M raise 🙌🎉 + roadmap for new decentralized local currency stablecoins across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Let’s go 🔥.
Speaking of stablecoins, last week Glo Dollar shared their big plans to donate $40k to Celo Public Goods, thus creating a Glo Liquidity Flywheel ⚡🛞. Projects like ReFi Medellín are already reaping the benefits. We love to see it.
And speaking of funding public goods, Filecoin’s FIL-RetroPGF-2 has entered the application intake stage 📝. If you’ve contributed to the Filecoin ecosystem between April-September this year, now is your chance to be recognized for your contributions. Not a Filecoin ecosystem contributor? GG22 starts next week.
This week, we’re revisiting Tokenized Carbon Credits in TLDR. Check it out below 👇.
Before we signoff, we’d be amiss if we didn’t bring to your attention the fact that an AI bot could soon become the first non-human millionaire and has somehow started a neo-religion. What a time to be alive.

🔍TLDR: Tokenized Carbon Credits
New to Web3? Welcome! TLDR is where we offer a simplifed explanation of a term used often in this newsletter or a big topic in the news this week. If there's anything you're curious about, reply and let us know.
What are Tokenized Carbon Credits?: Imagine if carbon credits, instead of being managed through complex traditional systems, were made as easy to trade and track as cryptocurrencies. This is the concept behind tokenized carbon credits. Just like digital tokens represent ownership of assets on a blockchain, tokenized carbon credits represent a specific amount of carbon offset, such as one ton of CO2 removed from the atmosphere.
These tokenized credits are stored and traded on a blockchain, which ensures transparency and security. The blockchain makes it easy to trace the origins of the carbon credit, prevent double-counting, and ensure that the credit can’t be used more than once. Each token is unique and tied to a real-world environmental project, like reforestation or renewable energy. This way, buyers know exactly where their carbon offsets are coming from.
Just as ENS (Ethereum Name Service) simplifies crypto addresses, tokenizing carbon credits simplifies the carbon market by making credits easier to manage, buy, sell, and retire. Blockchain ensures that these transactions are fast, secure, and verifiable, opening up the carbon offset market to a global audience.
Tokenized carbon credits make the process of investing in and managing carbon offsets more efficient, secure, and transparent, similar to how blockchain has improved other areas of trade.
TLDR: Tokenized carbon credits turn carbon offsets into blockchain-based tokens, making them easier to track, trade, and verify. Blockchain ensures transparency, prevents fraud, and links credits to environmental projects. This system simplifies the carbon market, making it more accessible globally.
