💚 Spotlight: The Climate Collective
Blockchains can facilitate coordinated action among large groups of distributed people by delivering transparency, efficiency, and trust. This is a big part of why combating climate change remains one of the most discussed and most promising applications of Web3 technology. Many of the brightest minds in the world are actively building Web3 climate-action solutions that could help preserve our planet's natural resources for generations to come. To succeed, they need connections, attention, and funding -- both within the Web3 community and beyond.
Enter, Climate Collective, a community of entrepreneurs, investors, nonprofits and scientists developing digital infrastructure (blockchain, AI/ML, geospatial tech) and services for climate action. They are organized around three verticals that offer an outsized impact towards our global climate goals: Biodiversity & Nature; Carbon Markets & Accounting; and Communities & Green Accountability. The goal? To accelerate innovation and deployment of digital tech in service of climate action at scale.
An active member of the World Economic Forum, IETA, the CIFAR Alliance, and other leading ecosystem coalitions, Climate Collective has deployed $4M in grant funding to early stage start-ups implementing more than 58 climate projects across 19 countries to date and has built a network of 38 member organizations, each with their own unique approach to impact creation.
Over the next several weeks, Web3ForGood will be celebrating the innovators that make up the Climate Collective innovation network within a new “Spotlight” section of our weekly roundup. Each week, we’ll introduce a new Climate Collective member, along with a short summary of the real-world impact they have achieved to date and a vision for the impact they are working towards in the future. Interested in what you learn? We’ll be including details on how you personally can support and get involved with each organization, too.
The Web3ForGood / Climate Collective Member Spotlight series kicks off next week! In the meantime, we invite you to learn more about Climate Collective and get involved.
