gm gm,
The long awaited Ethereum Merge finally happened this week on September 15 at 6:42 am UTC (2:42 am for us on the East Coast).
Some people celebrated with watch parties. Did you stay awake to watch it live? Abeera did… and saw the pandas appear!
Sam did NOT stay awake, but she made a cake.
However you celebrated, Happy Merge to all!
For those who still have questions about what is even going on and why it matters, check our non-technical explainer to the merge. This move will reduce worldwide electricity consumption by more than .2% and fundamentally change the environmental impact of the Ethereum blockchain. It’s truly one of the biggest events in internet history. To quote the Crypto Council for Innovation: “The fact that a decentralized group of actors worked together to manage a major upgrade of a live network is testament to the power of blockchains to incentivize trustless social coordination.” We are excited to see what comes next.
WAGMI
xx Abeera & Sam
