gm gm,
Happy first official summer Friday to everyone in the Northern hemsiphere. This is a quick roundup this week, because we’re both traveling.
Need to know 👉 Change Code is hosting their first community call this week with Crypto Altruism. If you’re native to the social impact world and still not too sure about how all this Web3 stuff works, this is the call for you to join. The team at Change Code has years of experience in both the tech and traditional social impact sector, so they truly understand both worlds and how they can support each other better than anyone else. This week’s topic is “The Impact Capital Problem.” Tune in next Tuesday.

🔍TLDR: Tokenomics
New to Web3? Welcome! TLDR is where we offer a simplifed explanation of a term used often in this newsletter. If there's anything you're curious about, reply and let us know.
Tokenomics refers to the world of digital tokens and how they build their own mini-economies on the blockchain. Imagine tokens as digital units of value, like cryptocurrencies, but they can stand for anything from assets to services. They live on the blockchain, which as we know, is a super-secure and transparent digital ledger. There are different types of tokens—utility tokens let you access specific services, while security tokens represent ownership in assets, kind of like digital stocks. Tokenomics is all about designing and managing these token-based economies, making sure everything runs smoothly with a balance of supply, demand, and incentives.
What makes tokenomics tick? First, there's the supply, which is the total number of tokens available. Then, there's the demand, or how much people want those tokens. Distribution is key, too—it's all about how tokens are shared among users. Incentives are like little rewards for participating in the network, whether you're staking or providing services. The utility of a token is what you can actually do with it, and sometimes, tokens are even burned (intentionally destroyed) to reduce supply and boost value. Tokenomics ensures these digital economies are vibrant and functional, making the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies exciting and dynamic.
TLDR: Tokenomics is the study of how these tokens are created, distributed, and used, making sure there's a balance of supply, demand, and incentives to keep the ecosystem thriving.
