gm gm,
Happy Birthday to Ethereum and Abeera 🥳🎂🎈🎉! And that’s not all we have to celebrate this week.
ETH ETFs were officially approved and started trading. However you feel about the aftermath, one thing’s for sure: it’s a positive sign for mainstream adoption, ever-elusive as it may seem.
The agricultural real world assets (RWA) platform AgriDex completed its first agricultural trade on the Solana blockchain, moving over 200 olive oil bottles and several wine cases from South Africa to London. Talk about a real-world use-case.
Then there’s the initial results from Sam Altman’s universal basic income (UBI) study… they’re incredibly promising and speak directly to the major potential benefit of crypto UBI. (Shoutout to GoodDollar).
And we have 6 (yes, 6!) funding opportunities to share this week, including Celo grants from Prezenti that you can use to get your idea off the ground.
Get inspired: the trailer (you can mint it) for the upcoming Vitalik/ Ethereum documentary is ❤️🔥❤️🔥; we’re building a new, better world!
There’s a lot to feel bullish about this week 🚀🚀

🔍TLDR: Decentralized Social
New to Web3? Welcome! TLDR is where we offer a simplifed explanation of a term used often in this newsletter. If there's anything you're curious about, reply and let us know.
Imagine if your social media account, like Facebook or Twitter, wasn't controlled by a single company but by everyone who uses it. That's the idea behind decentralized social media on the blockchain. Instead of one company owning and controlling your data and the platform, decentralized social media spreads the control among all its users worldwide. You connect directly with your friends and share information without needing a middleman. This makes it harder for anyone to control or censor what you share and helps keep your data more private and secure. It's like having a social network that's truly by the people, for the people.
So, how does this happen? When you post something on a decentralized social platform, it gets added to a blockchain, making it almost impossible for anyone to mess with or delete your content.
Many decentralized social platforms have their own digital tokens. You can earn these tokens by creating great content, engaging with others, or helping out in the community. It's like getting rewards for being social. It’s a new, exciting way to connect online, driven by the power of blockchain, giving you more control, privacy, and even some cool rewards along the way.
Examples of decentralized social tools include the Farcaster protocol and the Warpcast app that runs on it and the Lens protocol and its Orb app.
TLDR: Decentralized social media is a type of social networking platform that operates on a decentralized network, such as a blockchain, rather than being controlled by a single, centralized entity. In decentralized social media, data and content are distributed across multiple nodes or computers around the world, ensuring greater transparency, security, and user control. Users have ownership of their data, enhanced privacy, and are often able to earn rewards through platform-specific tokens for their contributions and engagement. This model aims to reduce censorship, increase freedom of expression, and create a more democratic and user-driven social media experience.
